Warfel Welcomes New Project Executive Steve Davis

Warfel Construction Company is pleased to announce Steve Davis has joined the company as Project Executive. In this new role, he will be fully accountable for overseeing projects regarding client satisfaction, schedule, budget and team performance. He will be responsible to pre-plan and provide foresight for project teams in order to best serve Warfel’s clients.

A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Davis previously served as Project Manager at Wohlsen Construction. He comes to Warfel with more than 12 years of construction experience. He is currently overseeing several projects, including the Acadia/Tower Health joint venture Behavioral Health Hospital, a 144-bed inpatient facility in Berks County.

Davis lives in York, PA with his wife Beth and their children Isabella, Alyvia, Cameron and Delaney.

Warfel Begins Construction on Breakout Campaign at Fulton Theatre

Warfel Construction is delighted to partner with the Fulton Theatre on their Breakthrough Performance campaign. This renovation and expansion project will provide additional actor housing, improved and expanded rehearsal space, a larger backstage, and additional restrooms and event space and will be completed in phases.  Warfel has been working in preconstruction with the Fulton and the design team since March of 2017 and also performed stage rigging work during the summer of 2018.

Project highlights include:

Improved Gathering Spaces

  • Improve audience experience before, during and after the shows with a new, expanded lobby space.
  • Provide for additional special event opportunities and community partnerships.

Improved Restroom Facilities

  • Increase the number of restrooms by more than 80%.
  • Addition of family bathrooms.

Improved Elevators

  • Update to the electrical system and digital mechanics in the existing elevator.
  • Add a new elevator to improve access to the Tell Studio Theatre.

Improved HVAC Systems

  • Provide back-up redundancy.
  • Create zone heating and cooling to address varying temperatures in large audience areas.

Backstage Right Expansion

  • Allow for actor staging and set storage – key to producing more than one main-stage show at a time.
  • Eliminate the current dependency on external storage for set pieces.

Rehearsal Studio Addition

  • Create the ability to rehearse large-scale, Broadway-style shows.
  • Give actors the opportunity to rehearse with sets and props.
  • Provide flexibility to rehearse one show during the day and perform a different show in the evening, decreasing the dark periods between shows

Stage Equipment and Prep Area Updates

  • Improve the rigging (used to fly scenery), lightning and sound systems that will allow the Fulton Theatre to produce shows at a competitive level with other modern theatre companies.
  • Improve existing dressing rooms and green rooms, as well as create dressing rooms for 4th floor Tell Studio Theatre

Updates to King Street Streetscape

  • Renovate buildings to include the original appearance of red bricks and cornices.
  • Be used for artist housing.
  • Encourage business activity that attracts pedestrian interest.

Warfel completed the Fulton’s last major construction project in 1995.

Hartz Promoted to Field Operations Manager

Warfel Construction Company is pleased to announce that Craig Hartz has been promoted to Field Operations Manager. In his new role, Hartz will lead Warfel’s Operations Team in hiring and resource planning, as well as spearhead new initiatives in standard operating procedures, training and development, and quality control enhancement.

A graduate of North Schuylkill School District in Ashland, PA, Hartz joined Warfel in 2001 as a Laborer and became a Foreman in 2010. Most recently, he was promoted to Superintendent in 2015. He has worked on an extensive list of award-winning projects throughout his time with Warfel, including the $2.1 million Georgelis Law Firm office, which received national recognition from Associated Builder and Contractors in 2015.

“Craig’s ability to lead outwardly, his field knowledge, and focus on serving teams through his tenure have positioned him to be well suited for this new position,” said Conlan Swope, Vice President of Operations. “Craig will play a significant role in hiring and development of Field Operations and providing greater clarity to refined processes and procedures of doing things the Warfel Way. All of these items will complement our ability to better service our customers and create more Clients for Life.”
