Warfel Construction Wins Project with Moravian University

Warfel Construction Company is pleased to announce that Moravian University has selected the firm to partner with on the expansion and renovation of the Haupert Union Building.

The building, fondly referred to as the HUB, is located at the heart of Moravian’s campus. Initially construction in 1962, the HUB currently houses multiple aspects of student life, including dining facilities, the office of event management, and space for student organizations.

This new project will include approximately 7,000 sf of renovations to the existing structure, with the dining facilities remaining operational throughout construction, accompanied by a 50,000 sf addition to better serve the university’s student body. The addition will consist of space for offices, lounges, meeting areas, and a new Health and Counseling Suite.

Warfel is pleased to partner with Earl Swensson Associates, Inc. (ESa) on this project.

Warfel Begins Work on Knowledge Park Renovation

Warfel Construction is pleased to partner with York College of Pennsylvania on a renovation that will transform a historic building in York, PA into an experiential learning facility named Knowledge Park. The building will incorporate classroom facilities with tenant spaces for local businesses, promoting a blend of classroom-based education with diverse, real-world learning experiences.

Located in a three-story warehouse that used to house the Schmidt & Ault Paper Co., the project scope consists of preparing the overall site for future tenant fit-outs and the construction of a new addition and student learning facilities.

Construction began in May 2022 and is set to reach substantial completion in July 2023.

Warfel is pleased to partner with RLPS Architects, C.S. Davidson, RGS Associates, JDB Engineering, and Susquehanna Real Estate on this project.

Warfel Begins Construction on New Healthcare Expansion

Warfel Construction Company is pleased to announce the construction start of Acadia Healthcare’s MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital campus expansion. This 9,821 sf project, located in New Castle, Delaware, includes the addition of 20 beds, various noisy and quiet activity rooms, a seclusion rooms, exam space, nurse stations, and restrooms.

This project is being constructed in tandem with a new behavioral health hospital in Moosic, PA, which is a joint venture between Acadia Healthcare and Geisinger. Warfel was awarded both projects in August 2021, with our preconstruction teams working diligently to keep the projects viable during the ever-changing economic state of commodity pricing.

Warfel is pleased to partner with CDA Engineering, Inc. and Johnson Johnson Crabtree on this project. The expansion is scheduled for completion in October of 2022.

Warfel Completes Construction on Reading CollegeTowne

East Petersburg, PA – Warfel Construction Company is pleased to have partnered with Alvernia University on Reading CollegeTowne, a historic renovation project that marks the university’s first major move into the city of Reading. This design-build structure provides a new home for the university’s business and communications programs, O’Pake Institute, and their new academic offerings of E-Sports and Engineering.

In addition to the new academic spaces, CollegeTowne offers student housing in the upper floors and houses one of the nation’s largest Starbucks on the first floor. The building will provide incremental growth for Alvernia and flexibility for the university to include additional classrooms, lab spaces, faculty offices, and student housing as needed.

Warfel partnered with RLPS Architects, Reese Hackman Engineering, Comstar Technologies LLC, and C.S. Davidson Inc. to complete this project.

With a February 2020 start date, construction reached completion in two separate phases. The student housing floors and academic spaces on the ground and lower floors were completed in August 2021, with the engineering lab spaces and staff offices following in November 2021.

Warfel Celebrates Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Holy Child

On October 15, Warfel celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony at Holy Child School at Rosemont for the grand opening of the new Fitzgerald Performing Arts and Athletic Center. The new, 11,000 square foot structure is an addition to the school’s preexisting O’Neil Gymnasium, which underwent minor renovations during the construction process, and consists of an Arts Lobby connector, an indoor multipurpose facility(which will provide a more formal space for events such as assemblies and plays), and an outdoor multi-use sports venue. Accompanying the addition is a new turf field.

This historic expansion project nearly doubles the size of the existing campus. Substantial completion for the turf field was reached in September 2021 and the Performing Arts and Athletics Center in October 2021.

Warfel Breaks Ground on Senior Care Facility

East Petersburg, PA – On November 19, Warfel broke ground on a new senior care facility for Avenue Development. Located off Interstate 83 in York, PA, the 124,000 square-foot building, named The Residence at Fitz Farm, will offer a combined 130-units of independent living, assisted living, and memory care facilities. The facility will also offer a short-term respite care program, where guests of the community will have access to various types of care, such as medication management and occupational therapy.

The Residence at Fitz Farm will boast a number of innovative features, including decontaminating ionizers to reduce virus transmission and smart locks designed to increase access for those with mobility aids. Those in assisted living units will have access to in-house chefs and a 24-hour personal care team. With the inclusion of a wide variety of comfort and entertainment options for residents, including a bistro, theater, salon, and a fitness and therapy suite, the building will be an instrumental structure in providing a full-continuum campus to serve the seniors within York County and the surrounding area.

Warfel is partnering with Roseman and Associates and Site Design Concepts on this project, with construction scheduled to wrap up in early 2023.

Warfel Begins Construction on Catalyst Warehouse

Warfel Construction Company is pleased to partner with Catalyst Commercial Development on their new warehouse project, located on 2.78 acres in Bristol, PA. This 62,550 square foot steel and precast concrete panel warehouse began as a shell space and has now progressed into a manufactured food distribution facility housing 24,000 square feet of freezer space, 33,000 square feet of dry storage space, and 8 loading docks to serve the warehouse.

The storage spaces are also paired with a two-story office fit-out and additional office, dispatch, and bathroom spaces within the warehouse. The office fit out consists of single offices, open office workstations, meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a small gym. The project is scheduled to be completed in October 2022.

Warfel Completes Construction on Lancaster Catholic High School

Warfel Construction Company is pleased to have partnered with Lancaster Catholic High School on their Reilly Hall renovation project, which is the school’s first major campus renovation since 1964. This is the first phase of a multi-phase internal remodel, which will be an overhaul of the entire school facility. This initial renovation transformed the 23,140-sf top floor of the existing building into a STEM Innovation Center and included complete bathroom remodels on all three floors. New HVAC and ventilation systems complement these renovations and give the entire building a new feel.

Warfel partnered with Marotta Main Architects, Alban Engineering, and CommCab, Inc. to complete these renovations.

Construction on this project began in May 2021 and was completed on September 7th, ahead of the projected schedule. Lancaster Catholic High School held a grand opening ceremony on September 18, 2021.

Warfel Breaks Ground on New Residential and Healthcare Facility

East Petersburg, PA – On August 1, Warfel Construction Company broke ground on a new residential and healthcare facility for the Sisters of Divine Providence in Allison Park, PA. This 71,000-sf three-story residential building includes 90 additional rooms, some individual and others apartment style, and will have community and support space on each wing. Several site improvements will be made as well, ranging from outdoor dining terraces to walkways to site lighting.

With almost two months underway since the project began, a significant amount of progress has been made on site, specifically with site demolition, tree clearing, removal of existing structures, and the start of bulk earthwork activities in preparation for the new building foundations to begin.

Warfel is partnering with Derck & Edson Architects, Providence Engineering Corporation, Moore Engineering, and Clark Food Service Equipment for this project.

The project began in mid-June 2021 and is set to wrap up in August/September of 2022.

Warfel Breaks Ground on Foxdale Village Bird Sanctuary

On July 21, Warfel Construction Company broke ground on the Foxdale Village Bird Sanctuary in State College, PA. This multiphase project encompasses nearly 40,000 square feet and includes the construction of a bird sanctuary, water feature, and outdoor pollinator garden for residents to enjoy. In addition, a new maintenance building will be constructed to service the new garden and sanctuary.
