Warfel Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Foreman in Delaware to join our field team and support commercial construction projects throughout the state.

The Foreman works closely with the Superintendent and project team to coordinate daily jobsite activities, monitor trade partner work, review material deliveries, and maintain quality and safety standards. Depending on experience and project needs, this position may also have the opportunity to lead assigned projects.

This position reports to the site Superintendent, with oversight from the Director of Field Operations.

Daily travel to assigned projects within a 0–120-mile radius may be required. Team members who agree to travel beyond the required radius may be eligible for a salary premium based on distance.

Key Responsibilities

Jobsite Coordination

Review daily jobsite priorities with the Superintendent and help coordinate upcoming work.
Read and interpret project plans and specifications to understand construction methods, details, and sequencing.
Coordinate with trade partners and vendors to support project schedules and delivery dates.
Monitor field activities and communicate potential schedule concerns to the Superintendent and project team.
Purchase miscellaneous jobsite materials, hardware, and supplies as authorized by the Superintendent and Project Manager.
Maintain current contract documents and ensure field teams have access to the latest drawings and project information.

Safety

Promote a strong safety culture and reinforce safe work practices across the jobsite.
Identify and address jobsite hazards promptly.
Ensure Warfel employees, trade partners, and visitors follow company and project-specific safety requirements.
Support regular safety inspections and reviews with designated safety personnel.
Encourage personal ownership of safety among everyone working onsite.

Quality Control

Monitor workmanship to ensure installed work follows project drawings, specifications, and Warfel quality standards.
Review shop drawings, submittals, and field measurements before materials are fabricated.
Inspect material deliveries and verify them against approved submittals and contract documents.
Maintain accurate material delivery logs.
Perform quality inspections and complete required QA/QC documentation.
Support the Superintendent with inspections of completed work and resolution of quality concerns.

Project Documentation & Communication

Document jobsite progress through routine photographs and maintain files according to Warfel’s quality control standards.
Prepare notes, photographs, and other documentation for trade partners as needed.
Document project conversations, information requests, delivery dates, and field concerns.
Maintain clear communication with internal and external project team members.
Assist with completion lists and punch list documentation during project closeout.

Field Leadership

Support the Superintendent in coordinating daily field activities.
Help ensure trade partners understand project expectations and complete work according to schedule and quality requirements.
Provide field leadership and direction as project needs require.
Perform hands-on construction work when needed.
Depending on experience and project needs, lead assigned projects with support from Warfel’s Operations team.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of six years of construction industry experience.
Proven ability to lead and coordinate others in a construction environment.
Commercial construction experience preferred.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and sequencing.
Knowledge of jobsite safety and construction quality standards.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
No formal degree required; relevant construction experience and training are required.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel daily to assigned jobsites.

Physical Requirements

Stand for approximately 95% of the workday.
Walk frequently throughout active construction jobsites and changing work areas.
Sit for approximately 5% of the workday.
Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Equipment may be available for assistance.
Push or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds as project activities require.
Climb ladders and scaffolding, including while carrying tools or equipment.
Bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
Work at varying heights using scaffolding, aerial lifts, and personal fall protection.
