Foreman – Paoli, PA
Warfel Construction Company is looking for a full-time Jobsite Foreman to join our team. In this role, you will assist Superintendents and the internal project team with daily tasks such as coordinating subcontractors, reviewing material deliveries, ensuring the quality of installations, and managing documentation requirements on the jobsite. Depending on your experience and preferences, you may also take on the responsibility of running your own project. You will report directly to the site Superintendent and receive oversight from the Director of Field Operations.
Travel Requirements:
You may need to travel daily to projects within a 0–120-mile radius. If you agree to travel beyond the required radius, you will be eligible for a salary premium based on the distance.
Major Responsibilities:
Your daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Daily Coordination: You will review jobsite needs with the supervisor and determine how to assist in tracking, managing, or checking progress on various tasks.
- Plan Interpretation: You will read and interpret project plans and specifications, analyzing construction methods and scheduling to ensure the work progresses according to plan.
- Safety Management: You will promote and enforce a culture of safety on the jobsite, ensuring everyone follows safe work practices. You will address jobsite hazards immediately and ensure compliance with safety procedures for Warfel employees, subcontractors, and visitors. You will also ensure that safety personnel conduct regular inspections and reviews.
- Document Management: You will manage all new contract documents, ensuring that file locations and paper copies are up to date onsite, whether in electronic or paper form.
- Shop Drawing Reviews: You will review shop drawings and submittals from subcontractors, as well as field measurements, to verify that design requirements are met before materials are fabricated.
- Material Procurement: You will purchase miscellaneous jobsite materials, hardware, and supplies as authorized by the Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Vendor Coordination: You will assist the site supervisor in managing vendor activities, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules, and taking appropriate action if any delays occur. You will document any issues that arise.
- Material Delivery Verification: You will review material deliveries brought by subcontractors, verifying them against approved submittals and contract documents. You will maintain a delivery log to track these materials.
- Internal and External Communication: You will communicate with the project team as needed, preparing notes and photos to confirm phone conversations, request information, document issues, and verify delivery dates.
- Photo Documentation: You will take routine photographs of jobsite progress and file them accordingly. You will follow QC labeling requirements when documenting progress.
- Quality Control: You will supervise the workmanship onsite to ensure that the installed work complies with project drawings, specifications, and Warfel’s quality standards. You may perform inspections or assist the site supervisor in reviewing work and completing QA/QC documentation.
- Completion and Punchlist Documentation: You will assist with completion lists and punchlist documentation for site close-out activities, working with the superintendent and project team to finalize.
- Tool Use: You may be required to use tools to assist with installing work as needed.
- Other Duties: You will perform other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or project team.
Requirements:
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in the construction industry, with a proven ability to manage others.
- No formal education required, but a solid construction background and training are essential.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing: You will spend approximately 95% of your time standing.
- Sitting: You will sit for about 5% of your time.
- Walking: You will walk frequently, changing positions and locations on the jobsite.
- Lifting: You may need to lift and carry materials weighing no more than 50 lbs. The frequency varies depending on the work at hand, but equipment will be available for assistance.
- Pushing and Pulling: Depending on work needs, you will push or pull materials weighing no more than 50 lbs, with equipment available for assistance.
- Climbing: You may need to climb ladders, scaffolds, or other objects in multi-story buildings while carrying tools and equipment.
- Bending and Kneeling: You will need to bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl as appropriate for the job.
- Working at Heights: You will work at heights as necessary, using safety equipment such as scaffolds, aerial lifts, and personal fall protection.
