Foreman – State College

Warfel Construction Company has an opportunity for a full-time jobsite Foreman. This role assists Superintendents and the internal project team with daily tasks, including coordinating subcontractors, reviewing material deliveries and installation quality, and meeting other documentation requirements on job sites. Depending on experience and preference, this position may also run its own project. This position will report to the site Superintendent, with direct oversight from the Director of Field Operations.

Daily travel to a project within a 0 – 120-mile radius may be required. An agreement to additional travel outside the necessary radius creates eligibility for a salary premium based on the distance.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily job site needs with the supervisor and define how they assist in tracking, managing, or checking progressing items.
  • Reads and interprets project plans and specifications and analyzes construction methods and scheduling for details and sequences of work.
  • Promotes a culture of jobsite safety and demands safe work practices from everyone onsite. Rectifies jobsite hazards immediately and ensures that all safety procedures are adhered to by Warfel employees, subcontractor employees, and visitors. Assures that designated safety personnel conduct regular safety inspections and reviews.
  • Manages all new contract documents and keeps all file locations/paper copies updated with the latest documents onsite, either electronically or on paper.
  • Check shop drawings and submittals submitted by subcontractors and field measurements to confirm design requirements are met before materials are fabricated.
  • Purchases miscellaneous jobsite materials, rough hardware, and supplies as authorized by the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Assists the site supervisor with vendor activity to ensure adherence to delivery dates and completion of field activities. If schedules are not being met, take appropriate action to document the issue.
  • Review material deliveries by subcontractors and verify them against approved submittals and contract documents. Track the delivery log.
  • Communicates internally and externally as requested by the project team. Prepares notes and photos for subcontractors for various reasons, e.g., to confirm phone conversations, request information, document issues, verify delivery dates, etc.
  • Routine photographic documentation of progress onsite. Files accordingly. Follows QC labeling requirements
  • Supervises workmanship onsite to ensure installed work complies with drawings and specifications and meets Warfel standards. Performs inspections of installed materials or assists site supervisor with review and completes documentation of QA/QC reports.
  • Performs completion lists and punch list documentation for site close-out activities as reviewed with the superintendent and project team.
  • May be required to work with their tools to help install work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in the construction industry is required, along with a proven aptitude for managing others.
  • No formal education is required. Must have construction background and training.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing: Approximately 95% of your time
  • Sitting: Approximately 5% of your time
  • Walking: Frequent walking is required as you change positions & locations
  • Lifting: Lift and carry materials weighing no more than 50 lbs. The frequency varies based on the work at the time. Equipment is available for assistance.
  • Pushing: Push materials weighing no more than 50 lbs. Frequency varies based on work at the time. Equipment is available for assistance.
  • Pulling: Pull materials weighing no more than 50 lbs. The frequency varies depending on the work at the time. Equipment is available for assistance.
  • Climbing: Climbing up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects in multi-story buildings while carrying tools & equipment may occur.
  • Bending: Bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl as appropriate.
  • Heights: Working at heights will vary, as will working with various pieces of equipment that provide protection at such heights, such as scaffolds, aerial man lifts, and personal fall protection.
