Warfel Construction is seeking an experienced Project Executive to join our team in Paoli, PA. This leadership role provides executive oversight of commercial construction projects while developing high-performing project management teams and strong client relationships.
The Project Executive works closely with clients from Preconstruction through project completion. This role also leads Project Managers, oversees project performance, and helps ensure projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
Building lasting relationships is central to this position. Through proactive communication and strong project leadership, the Project Executive helps advance Warfel’s Clients for Life® mission and create opportunities for continued partnerships.
The ideal candidate will live in a location that allows convenient travel to Warfel’s Paoli office and jobsites throughout New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties in Delaware.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Project Leadership
- Serve as an executive-level client contact from Preconstruction through project completion.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide executive support when project concerns or opportunities arise.
- Build strong client relationships that support satisfaction, trust, and repeat business.
- Provide executive oversight of multiple commercial construction projects.
- Monitor project communication, schedules, change management, and team dynamics to identify potential challenges early.
- Attend Owner/Architect meetings as needed to support the project and client relationship.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a team of three to five Project Managers.
- Provide direct oversight of project performance and support the professional development of team members.
- Establish clear responsibilities, expectations, and direction across project teams.
- Build strong team dynamics and promote collaboration among office and field teams.
- Address internal and external personnel conflicts and help teams develop effective solutions.
Business & Financial Performance
- Establish team revenue and margin goals that align with Warfel’s strategic plan.
- Monitor project performance to help ensure revenue and profitability goals are achieved.
- Partner with Business Development and Work Acquisition teams to identify new client relationships and project opportunities.
- Support client interviews, presentations, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs).
Preconstruction & Procurement
- Collaborate with Preconstruction teams to develop logistics plans, conceptual schedules, and constructability reviews.
- Provide project leadership throughout varying stages of design.
- Support project procurement and turnover from Preconstruction to Operations.
- Ensure timely procurement of critical-path trades and early construction packages.
Schedule, Quality & Project Performance
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and on or under budget.
- Visit jobsites regularly to review construction progress, quality control, and overall site conditions.
- Compare construction progress against the CPM schedule and discuss project status with field leadership.
- Identify schedule inconsistencies and work with Project Managers and field teams to develop recovery plans when needed.
- Review quality control with field leadership and help resolve significant issues.
- Ensure project teams develop and execute recovery plans when quality concerns arise.
- Review significant project issues with Operations leadership to protect Warfel’s interests and support successful outcomes.
Project Completion
- Provide executive oversight throughout the project closeout process.
- Ensure project teams complete punch list work and outstanding items on or before scheduled turnover.
- Help create a smooth transition from construction completion to client occupancy and ongoing service.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required. Comparable professional experience may also be considered.
- 12+ years of construction management or related industry experience.
- Proven success managing commercial construction projects similar in size and complexity to Warfel’s work.
- Demonstrated experience leading Project Managers and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, procurement, quality control, and project delivery.
- Strong client relationship, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and teams effectively.
- Ability to travel regularly between the Paoli office and assigned jobsites.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain stationary for approximately 50% of the workday.
- Ability to move throughout office environments and active construction sites, including areas with uneven terrain.
- Frequent use of computers, phones, printers, and other office equipment.
- Frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing 5–25 pounds.
- Occasional ability to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds, such as large drawing sets.
- Jobsite visits may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
