Commons Renovations Rooted in Resident Experience
The Commons Renovations at Homestead Village in Lancaster, Pennsylvania enhanced common areas across a premier life-plan community. The multi-phased renovation and expansion focused on creating a vibrant activity hub for residents. Warfel led work that touched dining, kitchen, spa, lobby, nurses offices, and connecting corridors. Because these spaces support daily life, the project needed to feel both practical and inviting. The completed improvements give residents more places to gather, receive services, enjoy meals, and move comfortably through the community.
Dining, Lobby, and Daily Gathering
The lobby and dining work set the tone for the larger renovation. Crews expanded the dining area through an addition and completed several food service upgrades. The refreshed dining spaces now include a deli, bistro with a pizza oven, bussing station, wait station, and take-out area. Meanwhile, the lobby gained a new celebration space, gift shop, and enlarged mailroom. These updates helped turn front-of-house areas into places that feel useful, welcoming, and connected to resident routines.
Kitchen, Spa, and Resident Services
Kitchen and wellness improvements added another layer to the project. The kitchen received extensive renovations with state-of-the-art equipment, including a commercial dishwasher and kitchen hood system. In another phase, crews relocated the spa into a more modern, spacious setting. The updated spa includes a reception area and a dedicated manicure and pedicure room. Together, these spaces strengthen resident services while keeping comfort and daily convenience close to the community core.
Phased Renovation Across Shared Spaces
The renovation was completed in four distinct phases:
First Phase: Dining Area Addition and Renovation, Lobby and Reception Area Renovation
Second Phase: Nurses Offices Renovation, Kitchen Renovation
Third Phase: Café and Spa Renovation
Fourth Phase: Main Corridor Renovation
This phased approach helped organize work across dining, wellness, service, and circulation spaces while keeping the resident experience in focus. Across these phases, crews also completed HVAC upgrades and installed new flooring, lighting, ceilings, paint, finishes, and wall coverings to refresh the shared areas throughout the community.
Commons Renovations Built for Long-Term Value
Warfel’s services helped bring the completed Commons Renovations together through careful phasing, practical upgrades, and attention to resident experience. The project elevated Homestead Village with renewed dining, wellness, service, and circulation spaces. Just as important, the renovation created inviting areas that support everyday comfort and connection. For Homestead Village, the work reflects a collaborative effort focused on long-term value for residents. It also respected the community’s day-to-day needs and operations.
