Overview of the Community Building Addition
The Community Building Addition at The Village at Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania expanded campus amenities through several connected improvements. The project included a community building addition, six cottages, Palmer Park, and a new entry drive with porte cochere. Together, the completed scope totaled 13,572 square feet across new building work, outdoor amenities, and refreshed interior areas. Existing corridors received fresh finishes, while the former multi-purpose space became the creamery and bistro. Rather than focusing on one isolated upgrade, the work created a broader amenity expansion shaped around arrival, gathering, recreation, and daily use.
Community Building Addition and Campus Amenities
The Community Building Addition introduced new space connected to the existing campus environment. Alongside the building work, six cottages expanded the residential portion of the overall scope. The new entry drive and porte cochere created a defined arrival sequence leading to the latest addition. Inside, corridor finish updates refreshed existing connections, while the creamery and bistro gave new purpose to the former multi-purpose space. These updates helped tie new and existing areas together without treating the campus improvements as separate projects.
Palmer Park and Outdoor Recreation
Palmer Park added an outdoor amenity component to the overall expansion. The park features professionally contoured golf putting and practice areas, giving the campus a specialized recreational setting. In addition, the multi-purpose area creates space for recreational activities within the park. World-class gardens add another layer to the outdoor environment, pairing landscape design with active-use areas. The park broadens the project beyond building additions by introducing outdoor spaces shaped around recreation, gathering, and campus experience.
Site Work and Project Completion
Warfel completed site work for Palmer Park while bringing together the landscape and putting green trade partners. That work required attention to recreational areas, garden spaces, and the detailed shaping of golf practice features. Across the full scope, the project connected cottages, community building improvements, refreshed interiors, and outdoor amenities within one campus expansion. The completed work reflects the range of amenities added to The Village at Penn State, from the creamery and bistro to Palmer Park, the new entry drive, and the latest addition. It also shows how indoor gathering spaces, outdoor recreation, and arrival improvements were combined within a single campus-focused effort for residents and visitors.
