Construction of the Penn Cinemas project was completed in only four months to accommodate the November opening of Harry Potter. Lancaster’s first IMAX theater seats 428 and features a 70’ wide by 40’ high screen. The 13,000 square foot building also includes unfinished space for a 5,000 square foot restaurant. The design objective for the exterior was to express the unique profile of the IMAX by emphasizing the angles of the stadium seating and sloped ceiling. The stadium seating was constructed utilizing the PREFoam pre-engineered seating process. The interior design combines industrial elements such as an exposed roof structure, with more refined lighting and finishes.
