Suburban Pavilion Lab Improvements in an Active Suite
Inside Lancaster General Hospital’s (LGH) Suburban Pavilion, the Suburban Pavilion Lab Improvements renovated a licensed lab suite that needed to stay operational. The 5,600-square-foot space serves about 150 patients each day, so construction had to fit around ongoing care. Over seven months, Warfel phased the non-structural interior renovation so the lab could remain occupied. That meant coordinating closely with hospital staff, protecting patient access, and keeping comfort in mind while work moved forward.
Licensed Medical Lab Renovation
The scope brought practical updates to the lab without changing the building structure. A new floor plan layout improved suite function, while the upgraded reception area refreshed a key patient-facing space. The project also included HVAC replacement and all-new finishes throughout the renovated area. Because the work happened inside a licensed medical suite, each improvement needed to fit around ongoing care. Daily staff responsibilities also had to remain part of the construction plan.
Suburban Pavilion Lab Improvements Coordination
Communication stayed close to the people managing daily lab operations. Warfel worked with the office manager on daily updates, while weekly MEP coordination with the facility manager kept building systems and construction activity aligned. That steady communication helped the team respond to design conflicts where new materials met existing structures. It also helped keep client-requested custom upgrades moving during construction
Phasing Around Patients and Staff
To reduce disruption, the project used both night and day shifts around office hours. This approach helped limit noise while still allowing construction to move forward. A semi-permanent barrier also created dust control between work areas and occupied spaces. Together, those measures helped maintain a more patient-focused environment while renovation work continued nearby. The completed Suburban Pavilion Lab Improvements refreshed a lab suite for Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Health. The work stayed inside an active medical pavilion where daily care continued. The scope also included dust control, design conflicts, and custom upgrades requested during construction. More importantly, the project kept patient access and hospital coordination at the center of the renovation.
