To meet the needs of their growing staff and crew, WGAL News Studio needed to update their existing studio and create additional personnel space. The NBC affiliate partnered with Warfel’s Construction Services Group to complete a two-phase renovation of their existing station.
Because the station needed to remain operational throughout the course of construction, the team worked closely with WGAL to coordinate construction activities around program times and ensure that there were minimal disturbances to the daily activities of the station. Through this diligent preparation, WGAL’s programming remained on schedule throughout the lifespan of the project.
Completed in May 2022, the first phase of construction now serves as office space for the creative services team. The project scope included framing to create a new layout, storefront systems for office entrances, restroom upgrades, and the creation of two makeup rooms.
Phase II, completed nearly a month ahead of schedule in September 2022, had a similar scope to Phase I. However, the renovation also included the addition of two windows to the existing building envelope, a coffee nook, and restrooms. This space, which had been the previous location of the creative services team, was remodeled to support the IT and technical teams.
WGAL celebrated the ribbon cutting of this facility on Friday, October 28th.
