It is with deep appreciation for his years of service that Warfel Construction announces the retirement of Ralph E. Simpson Jr. as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

“We are grateful to Ralph for his contributions over the last 34 years,” said Matt Hartzler, president of Warfel Construction. “Warfel has provided solutions for our clients throughout a multitude of challenges during the last three decades, including several economic recessions. We will continue to run toward adversity and work successfully in the best interests of our clients.”

Hired as a project manager in 1987, Simpson rose to Vice President in 1995, President in 2001 and became President/CEO in 2007. Through his work as a project manager and a company executive, Ralph established long-lasting relationships with industry partners and clients alike. Over the years, Ralph has been deeply involved in the Lancaster community, and served as chair of the United Way board, the United Way Search Committee, and Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Having led the company as President since 2013, Hartzler will now assume the role of President/CEO. He began his career at Warfel in 1995 as a project manager and became a partner in the firm in 2007.

“I look forward to watching Warfel’s continued growth and bright future,” said Simpson. “Through strong continued leadership, Warfel will ensure that the team continues to exemplify the company’s core values while delivering best-in-class projects. I am proud to have spent the last 34 years as a part of this organization.”

In addition to Simpson’s role as CEO, he serves as a trustee at Linden Hall and Alvernia University. He has previously served as a board and executive board member for ABC, the Tocqueville Society Chair for the United Way, Prospers Chair of EDC, coach and board member of Lancaster Firebirds Ice Hockey, the Performing Dance Arts Company in York, and the board chair for Millersville Area Youth Soccer Club.
