This 19-month project was completed in two phases in order to maintain student access to parts of the original Student Memorial Center during construction. Phase 1 consisted of a new 23,000 square foot gymnasium, restrooms, fitness center, loading dock, student meeting rooms, office space, and a complete overhaul of the existing dining commons and kitchen areas. In addition to the interiors, the exterior work included a new facade. Phase 2 included renovations to first floor meeting rooms, locker rooms, student lounges, University store, and the installation of a new dasher board gymnasium system for indoor hockey and soccer matches. The completely upgraded Student Memorial Center offers not only a place for students and faculty to work out, meet, and grab a bite to eat, but also provides for a state-of-the-art centralized networking hub.
